Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of formula I (R1 is hydroxyl, amino, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, mono- or disubstituted phenyl-bearing amino; R2 is H, alkyl, sulfone, carboxyl) and their salts.
EXAMPLE: 4-(p-Dimethylaminoanilino)antipyrine.
USE: Measurement of an oxidative substance such as peroxylipid in living body samples: they can simplify the procedures to lower the fluctuation in the results. Further, they show high coloring sensitivity.
PREPARATION: The oxidative condensation between 4-aminoantipyrine and a phenol derivative of formula II or an aniline derivative is effected by adding a permanganate salt. The pigment produced is reduced with a reducing agent after the filtration, isolation or directly without separation to give the compound of formula I.
