Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a highly active catalyst for hydrogenation by combining a solid acid support of titanium oxide with catalytic components, e.g., metals of Groups VIa and VIII in the periodic table and phosphorus or/and boron.
CONSTITUTION: As a catalyst for the hydrodenitrification of hydrocarbon oils, e.g., crude oil containing nitrogeneous compounds and sulfureous compounds, etc., a catalyst, consisting of titanium oxide as a support and one or more of metals of Group VIa, e.g., molybdenum, tungsten, etc., and metals of Group VIII, e.g., cobalt, nickel, etc., in the periodic table and phosphorus or/and boron as catalytic components, is used. The catalyst can not only remove effectively nitrogeneous compounds and sulfureous compounds present in hydrocarbon oils but also perform hydrogenation with a high activity.
