Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a self-lubrication type sintered bearing capable of being used at high temp. by filling the pores of a sintered body with glass.
CONSTITUTION: Metal powder is press formed into bearing shape and sintered, and the pores of the sintered body are filled with glass by impregnation or other method. Sintered body 1 is then formed into circular shape, and rotating shaft 2 is inserted in body 1. When the temp. of body 1 is raised by frictional heat in the rotation of shaft 2, glass 4 filled in the pores of body 1 is softened and leached to the inner surface of body 1. Leached glass 4 forms a film between the inner surface of body 1 and the outer surface of shaft 2, showing lubricating action. Since this sintered bearing self-lubricates well at high temp., it can be used in a car turboengine, etc.
