Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled long-life roll having a specified composition contg. C. Mn, etc., capable of being used as a support roll for continuous casting without water cooling, and effectively utilizing the potential sensible heat of cast metal.
CONSTITUTION: This surface-noncooled roll consists of, by weight, 0.05W0.25% C, 0.1W1% Si, 0.3W1.5% Mn, 0.2W3% Ni, 11W20% Cr, 0.2W2% Mo, 0.2W3% Co, and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities. This roll is suitable for use as a support or guide roll for an apparatus of continuously casting molten steel. It has superior oxidation and wear resistances in a high temp. region, can be used without water cooling, elongates its life, and enables enhancement in equipment working ratio and energy saving.
