Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to install a detector to a small-sized weak pin by boring axially a through hole in the center of the pin and by installing a light source in one opening of the through hole and a photoelectric conversion element connected to a fault detector, in the other opening of the hole.
CONSTITUTION: A through hole 24 is axially bored in the center of a weak pin 21 and a light source 26 is installed in one opening of the through hole 24 and a photoelectric conversion element, which converts a received light into an electric signal, in the other opening of the hole. The photoelectric conversion element 30 is connected to an alarm device 35 through an amplifier 33. If the weak pin 21 is subject to damage, the photoelectric conversion element 30 fails to receive light from the light source and sends it to the alarm device 35 which signals an alarm. The fault detector can be installed to even a small-sized weak pin, because it requires no mechanical detecting system.
