Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent inconveniences owing to biting of support material by releasing or reducing the pressure of a pressure fixing roller pair when the thickness of the toner image support material is more than specified.
CONSTITUTION: When the toner image support material delivered out from a cassette passes a register roller pair 7, the roller 7' floats by the thickness of the support material sandwiched by the rollers 7', 7" and its displacement amount is magnified by the end 17' on the side opposite from the roller mounting of a lever 17 and the end part 17' displaces in the arrow A direction about a fulcrum 16 and contacts the actuator 19' of a microswitch 19. Namely, when the end part 17' displaces by more than the predetermined displacement amount in the A direction, the switch 19 goes ON from OFF and this ON signal causes a control means C to let a hydraulic control unit FC space rollers 14, 15 or decrease the pressure between both, thereby enabling the conveying of the support material thicker than the specified material at the low torque under which no undue stress is given to the motor. Hence, various inconveniences owing to biting of the support material may be prevented.
