Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a battery with a longer life which is easily manufactured and can provide a high-rate dischrge, by employing a given shifting-charge complex of iodine for the positive active material of the battery whose negative active material is a light metal. CONSTITUTION:A positive active material 1 made of a shifting-charge complex and a negative active material 2 made of a light metal, lithium, are placed in a positive- electrode can 3. After that, the can 3 is hermetically sealed by interposing a gasket 5 between the positive-electrode can 3 and the negative-electrode can 4, thus constituting a battery. The positive active material 1 is prepared from a shifting-charge complex which is made from a mixture of given amounts of para-phenylenediamine, hexamethylenetetramine and iodine. Here, the proportion by weight of hexamethylenetetramine for enhancing the conductivity of the battery should be not less than 0.005.
