Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound in high quality and yield, with simple process, by the Diels-Alder reaction of 1,4-naphthoquinone with a conjugated diolefin compound using the produced titled compound as a reaction medium.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid or gaseous conjugated diolefin compound is intorduced into a mixture of 1,4-naphthoquinone (NQ) and 1,4,4a,9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone compound (THAQ) maintained at a temperature above the melting point of THAQ, pref. at 110W150°C. After the completion of the reaction, a part of the produced THAQ is extracted from the system, and recycled as the medium of said reaction. The remaining part of the THAQ is utilized as the objective product. Similar effect can be also attained by introducing the conjuagated diolefin compound at the initial stage of the reaction into molten NQ under the reaction conditions, and completing the reaction in the presence of the produced THAQ.
EFFECT: The recovery of the conjugated diolefin compound used in excess is facilitated.
