Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a modified polyester which causes no problem in the polymer production process and the spinning process, by adding a polyoxyalkylene glycol (derivative) and a specified phosphorus compound to a polyester.
CONSTITUTION: To a polyester consisting mainly of ethylene terephthalate units which is at the stage of from the completion of ester exchange or esterification to the completion of polycondensation, are added 2W70wt% of a polyoxyalkylene glycol (derivative) represented by formula I, wherein R1 and R3 are each H or an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group, R2 is a 2W4C alkylene and n is a positive integrer which gives this compound an average MW of at least 3,000 and 5W 500ppm (as P) of a phosphorus compound represented by formula II, wherein R4 is H or a 1W12C organic group, R5 is an ester-forming functional group and A is a 1W6C bivalent organic group, and thereafter the polycondensation of the resulting mixture is brought to completion.
