Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease diffusive hydrogen of deposited metal by using the arc welding electrode comprising removing metal Mn from the covering, adding Mn to the core wire and adding the specific amounts of Te and Se to one or both of the core wire and covering.
CONSTITUTION: In welding of mild steel or high tensile steel, the coated electrode comprising containing Mn at 0.9W2.2% in its core wire, removing Mn from the covering and adding one or more kinds of Te and Si to one or both of the core wire and covering so as to become 0.002%≤ (Te, Se) in core wire +0.04 (Te, Se) in covering ≤0.2%, is used. In this covering are contained 10W60% carbonate; 1W30% fluorine compound; iron and adhesive agent. This welding method decreases the amount of the diffusive hydrogen of deposited metal and eliminates the Mn-thick part of the weld zone. Hence, cracking resistance is improved and welding workability is improved.
