Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the shunt of return currents due to other trains flowing through a rail to a grounding circuit and obviate the abnormal wear of a brush of a grouning system and the electrolytic corrosion of bearings by a mechanism wherein a reverse-current preventive element is mounted into the grounding circuit for a DC electric rolling stock.
CONSTITUTION: Currents which are fed by a current collector 2 from a stringing 1 and pass through an electric apparatus 3 in a car pass through a reverse-current preventive element 13 through a grounding conductor 5 and a crossover track 7 and the like from a grounding switch 4, and flow to a substation 12 by a rail 9 through a ground system 6 or 6' and wheels and axles 8. Thus, even when the return currents of other trains located at places remoter than the train of interest pass through the rail 9 from the substation 12 and flow in the arrow head 10 direction, the return currents do not shunt to the grounding conductor 5 because the currents are prevented by means of the reverse-current preventive element 13. A short-circuit switch 14 is used for regeneration, closed only when currents are taken up from the rail 9 in case of regenerative braking, and opened at all times except the case of regenerative braking.
