Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a typewriter which is light, small-sized and easy to operate by a method wherein a printing-type drum provided with many belts stretched and bearing many printing types is arranged in parallel with a platen with a type-hammering means provided together.
CONSTITUTION: The printing-type drum 2, provided in parallel with the platen, is constituted by a number of printing-type belts 7 bearing many printing types and stretched round coaxial discs 5 and 6 provided separately. An ink ribbon 4' is extended around the drum 2 from a roll 10' to a roll 11' through guides 12. Selection of the printing types indicated by the keys 50 of a keyboard is conducted by pulse motors 18W20. Printing paper 4 is rolled out from a roll 10 and, surrounding the platen 31, is rolled round a roll 11. Hammering of the printing type selected is performed by the move of the printing-type belts 7 to the platen 1 by means of a hammer mechanism 42 provided inside the hollow printing-type drum 32.
