Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit an insulated coil suitable for a rotary electric machine having a high working voltage such as a turbine generator to be electrically, mechanically and thermally strong by winding an insulating sheet around a coil conductor, and impregnating the wound layer with thermosetting resin before hardening this on heating. CONSTITUTION:Used as an insulating sheet is a laminated mica made by joining aromatic polyamide paper and a hybrid sheet of laminated mica foil and aromatic polyamide fibrite on thermal compression bonding. The insulating sheet is wound around a coil conductor, and the wound layer is impregnated with thermosetting resin and hardened on heating to obtain a coil having an insulating layer. This permits the insulated coil to be electrically as well as mechanically strong and of excellent heat-resistance.
