Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the titled composition from discoloration by the enhancement of heat stability of a flame retarder, by compounding a resin with a hologen-containing organic flame retarder and a specified amount, based on said retarder, of Na or K salt of a fatty acid.
CONSTITUTION: In a flame-retardant resin composition, which contains a halogen- containing organic flame retarder, 0.01W30pts.wt. of Na or K salt of a fatty acid and additionally, if necessary, 0.01W30pts.wt. of at least one member selected from a phosphite and an organotin compound except mercaptans, are used for 100pts.wt. of the halogen-containing organic flame retarder. Using said fatty salt enhances heat stability of a halogen-containing organic retarder such as tetrabromobisphenol A or a chlorinated paraffin, which prevents thermal discoloration during molding. Therefore it is possible to prevent said flame-retardant resin composition from discoloration and to enhance its commercial valve.
