Abstract

PURPOSE: To absorb the surge caused by sudden change of the fluid pressure in the initial stage of operation by providing a sleeve having a mass greater than that of the poppet valve and adapting the poppet valve to open with the retrocessive movement of the sleeve in sudden rise in the pressure.
CONSTITUTION: When surge pressure introduced through an inlet port 5 is applied to the pressure receiving part 9 of a poppet valve 14 and a sleeve 8. Both the poppet valve 14 and the sleeve 8 tend to retract against springs 15 and 12 respectively, however, the sleeve 8 moves at a speed lower than that of the poppet valve 14 since the sleeve is incorporated into a cylindrical member 11 to form a single unit of a mass greater than that of the poppet valve 14. Therefore, the working fluid introduced from the inlet port 5 is returned to a tank through a passages 16A, 16B and an outer chamber 4 so that the pressure rise within the circuit is damped and absorbed instantly.
