Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an optical fiber that realizes an endoscope profiting the examination of cancer, etc., including symptoms of precancerosis, by arranging around an image fiber and projecting fiber and phtodetecting fiber that permit ultraviolet rays and visible rays to penetrate them.
CONSTITUTION: Optical fiber 1 is obtained by arranging around image fiber 2 projecting fiber 3 and photodetecting fiber 4 that permit ultraviolet rays and visible rays to pass through them. For the arrangement, it is recommended to fit separate bundles of fibers 3 and 4 to image fiber 2 with a protective coating interposed or to arrange fibers 3 around fibers 4 covering the entire circumferential surface of image fiber 2 so as to obtain threelayer constitution. Additionally, it is possible to arrange alternate fibers 3 and 4 around image fiber 2 into the two-layer structure. Thus constituted optical fiber 1 is utilized for a medical endoscope.
