Abstract
PURPOSE: To avoid the deterioration of the element material and increase the responsiveness for the gas sensor which is consisted of the composite oxide composed mainly of the LaCoO3 for the basic material and then detects the oxygen concentration in the burning gas of a high temperature in the form of the change of resistance value, by substituting a part of the Co in the LaCoO3 with the Mn.
CONSTITUTION: A part of the Co in the LaCoO3, which is the material of a gas sensor which detects the oxygen concentration in the burning gas of a high temperature, is substituted with the Mn. Thus a series of composite oxides containing the LaMn1-XCoXO3 can be obtained. With use of such composite oxide, the deterioration due to the reducing gas component in the burning gas can be prevented for the element material, as the same time increasing the responsiveness. The value of X is set preferably in a range of 0.6≤X≤0.8 in terms of the sensitivity, responsiveness, lifetime and other factors. Also this composite oxide can be obtained by mixing the La2O3, MnO2 and Co2O3 in a prescribed ratio and then giving them a reaction and synthesis at about 1,000°C.
