Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the radiation directivity of a photoelectric converter by forming a recess on the surface of a semiconductor chip when fixing a spherical lens on the chip corresponding to the photoelectric converter unit built in the chip, thereby coinciding the lens with the axis of the converter unit. CONSTITUTION:When fixing a lens 6 of spherical shape on a semiconductor chip 2 built with a photoelectric converter unit 1 made of light emitting element or the like to improve the radiation directivity, a circular recess 8 having a diameter larger than that of the lens 6 is formed on the surface of the chip 2 corresponding to the converter unit 1. Subsequently, a surface electrode 4 is covered on the entire surface including the recess 8, a hole 5 is opened corresponding to the converter unit 1 at the lens bonding surface 9 in the recess 8, and the projected portion of the electrode 4 is used as a bonding unit 3. Thereafter, the lens 6 is made contact with the hole 5, and the lens 6 is fixed on the periphery with resin 7. Thus, the lens 6 and the converter unit 1 can be exactly coincided at their axes.
