Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an aq. ink which can be subjected to a capillary action even when the ink is in a high viscous state or in a non-flow state, consisting of a colorant, water and a water-insoluble, water-absorbing resin.
CONSTITUTION: A water-insoluble, water-absorbing resin capable of absorbing a large amount of water, is added to an aq. colorant liquid. Examples of the water- absorbing resins are a water-insoluble resin obtd. by partially crosslinking or modifying a cellulose ether; resins obtd. by polymerizing starch, cellulose or amylose with a water-soluble monomer having double bonds or a monomer capable of converting by hydrolysis into a water-soluble monomer and a crosslinking agent; or resins derived from the hydrolysis of said resins resulting from the above polymn. Examples of the colorants are anionic or cationic dyes such as conventional water-soluble acid dyes, direct dyes; nonionic dyes wherein polyoxyethylene is a water-soluble group; disperse dyes; and pigments.
