Abstract
PURPOSE:To widen sufficiently the acquisition range of automatic equalization by providing an error correcting method that makes use of the regularity of a bipolar code. CONSTITUTION:A received signal from terminal 1 is inputted to automatic equalizer 2 and an equalized output signal is discriminated by threshold detecting circuit 3, which outputs a discrimination signal, consisting of three levels corresponding to [1], [0] and [-1], to comparing-correcting circuit 4. Comparing-correcting circuit 4 detects and corrects an error of the discrimination signal by making use of the regularity of the bipolar code to output a corrected discrimination signal. Then, the corrected discrimination signal and equalized output signal are inputted to automatic-equalizer correcting circuit 5, which suppies a corrected variable gain to automatic equalizer 2. Consequently, no error gain adjustment is made even if a discrimination error is generated while the equalizer does not provide sufficient equalization, so that stable acquisition operation will be performed.
