Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition, capable of forming a film having improved appearances, e.g. smoothness, brightness and gloss, particularly suitable for topcoating on an automobile, and comprising a specific vinyl polymer containing phosphorus and a hardener.
CONSTITUTION: A composition comprising (A) a vinyl polymer, containing phosphorus, having a crosslinkable functional group, e.g. hydroxyl group, carboxyl group, glycidyl group, etc., a softening point of 70W150°C and a number-average molecular weight of 2,000W30,000 and (B) a hardener, e.g. hexamethoxymethylmelamine. Preferably, the amount of phosphorus in the constituent (A) is 0.0001W 1wt%, and the amount of the constituent (B) used is 3W30wt% based on 70W 97wt% the constituent (A). As for the vinyl polymer of the constituent (A), a (co)polymer, e.g. 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate or glycidyl (meth)acrylate, may be cited.
