Abstract
PURPOSE: To desulfurize and denitrate an exhaust gas simultaneously and improve economy by binding thermally stabilized titanium oxide to carry nickel oxide and contacting the same with the exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: Titanyl sulfate is neutralized with ammonia water and is subjected to precipitating, filtering and firing. Next, tungstic acid is dissolved in methylamine and is added thereto, and the mixture is fired to form thermally stabilized titanium oxide. Thence, aluminium hydroxide is added thereto and the mixture is molded and fired to a granular shape to prepared the carrier. The carrier is then impregnated in an aqueous nickel nitrate soln. and is fired to prepare the catalyst carrying nickel oxide. The sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide in the combustion exhaust gas are removed simultaneously with this catalyst, whereby the exhaust gas is purified.
