Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a lithographic plate with superior reproducibility of printing elements by dispersing an oil soluble dye absorbing specified light in an oil soluble film forming a lipophilic image on a support having a hydrophilic surface to utilize the film as halation preventing layer. CONSTITUTION:An oil soluble dye such as ''Oil Red RR '' having the maximum absorption wavelength in the 450-550nm range is dispersed in a nonsilver photosensitive layer contg. an o-quinone diazide compound capable of forming a lipophilic image on a support such as an Al plate made hydrophilic so that the reflecting density of the image to light of 250-550nm wavelengths is adjusted to >=0.5. A silver halide emulsion layer is then formed on the layer, imagewise exposed, developed, fixed, and irradiated with ultraviolet rays, and the nonprinting area alone of the photosensitive layer is removed by dissolution to obtain a lithographic plate. The dye prevents light from being transmitted to the bottom of the emulsion layer as a mask, resulting in no deterioration in the quality of the image in the lipophilic photosensitive layer.
