Abstract
PURPOSE: To form a multicolor image faithful to the color division of an original, by using a photoreceptor containing a component exhibiting lasting polarization, utilizing the difference in polarization direction occurring in the photoreceptor, and separating a black area from the other color image area.
CONSTITUTION: Photoconductive layer 2 of CdS or the like is formed on ferrodielectric layer 3 of BaTiO3 or the like exhibiting durable polarization, and transparent conductive film 1 is formed on layer 2 to provide photoreceptor 4. Metal electrode 5 is overlaid on layer 3 of photoreceptor 4, and voltage is applied between electrode 5 and layer 1 (a). Photoreceptor 4 is exposed (b) to a white light through original 6 consisting, e.g., of white W, red R, and black B. Layer 3 except the area corresponding to black B is polarized to one direction as shown by arrows. Then, electrode 5 is removed (c), photoreceptor 4 is heated to Curie point, or above it, and polarization is erased, but charge is left (d) on the surface. The charge is developed (e), and transferred (f) to paper 8 using an electrode. Electrode 5 is again overlaid, voltage is applied (g) contrary to the operation (b), photoreceptor 4 is exposed to the light through original 6 and a cyan filter, reverse voltage is applied, layer 3 of the areas corresponding to white W and red R is reversely polarized, processes like (c)W(f) are operated, and thus, a red image corresponding to red R is obtained.
