Abstract

PURPOSE: Hollow fibers of viscose rayon that are composed of regenerated cellulose and have thin skin layers on the surface of the outer wall all over the periphery in the filament direction, thus being suitably used for membrane separation.
CONSTITUTION: A viscose dope and a liquid core component that has no activity of coagulating the viscose dope and is incompatible with water are extruded simultaneously through double spinneret nozzles in the state that the core component is included in the core part continuously and passed through the air through 10W 100mm. Then, the extruded dope is introduced into the coagulation bath and made to run, whereby the hollow fibers are composed of two layers, i.e., skin layer and core one where the thickness of the skin layer is less than 1 micron. The outer diameter (a) in micron and the thickness of the fiber wall (b) in micron are preferred to satisfy equations I and II. The viscosity of the viscosity dope is preferably 50W300 poise and the aging degree, i.e., HZ value is preferably 1.0W5.0.
