Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled fiber with a slight fibrillation and deterioration of strength, without degrading the hand and uniform dyeability, by treating a concentric sheath-core type composite fiber made of a polyester containing a polyoxyalkylene glycol etc. in the sheath part with an alkali to reduce the weight thereof by a specific amount.
CONSTITUTION: A concentric sheath-core type composite fiber comprising (A) a core part consisting of a polyester expressed by the formula (n is an integer 2W6) and (B) a sheath part consisting of a polyester containing a polyoxyalkylene glycol and/or a metal salt of an organic sulfonic acid expressed by the formula RSO3M [R is 3W20C alkyl or 7W40C (alkyl)aryl; M is alkali (earth) metal], and having a cross-sectional area of the sheath part 1W10 times that of the core part is treated with an aqueous solution of an alkali etc. to remove 10W40% of the sheath part and obtain the aimed fiber.
