CONSTITUTION: An aqueous soln. contg. ferrous ion of FeSO4 or the like as a principal component is mixed with an oxidizing agent such as H2O2 or NaClO3 for oxidizing ferrous ion to ferric ion and an aqueous soln. of NaOH or other alkali to prepare an alkaline suspension. At this time, the oxidizing agent is added to the ferrous salt soln. little by little, and then the alkali soln. is added with stirring in a slight excess such as about 1W10% excess over the amount required for neutralization. The suspension assuming a reddish brown color is heated from room temp. to 100°C until it turns ocher, and goethite synthesis is completed.
