Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a block or graft copolymer having excellent mechanical strength and dimensional accuracy as well as good resistance to abrasion and chemicals and consisting of a portion of a styrenic copolymer chain contg. carboxylic anhydride group and that of polyamide chains.
CONSTITUTION: A block or graft copolymer consists of a portion (A) of a styrenic copolymer chain (MW: 10,000W300,000) contg. carboxylic anhydride groups composed of random-distributed repeating units represented by formula (I) and (II) [R1: H alkyl; R2, R3 and R4: H alkyl, halogen; k, l and m: an integer; m/(l+m)≈ 2W15mol%], and a portion (B) of a polyamide chain (MW: 5,000W50,000) consisting of repeating units represented by formula III or IV (x, y and z: an integer from 1W10). The above copolymer is prepared by mixing a 1:3W3:1 ratio of the portion (A) styrenic copolymer and the portion (B) polyamide, and then reacting them by melting and mixing.
