Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled composition having excellent workability and mechanical strength and useful as wire covering and window seals, by compounding each specific proportion of a polyolefinic resin, a polyolefinic rubber, and a vinyl acetateethylene copolymer rubber and partially crosslinking them.
CONSTITUTION: A composition consists of (i) 10W40wt% of a polyolefinic resin (e.g. crystalline PP), (ii) 30W80wt% of a polyolefinic rubber [e.g. ethylene/ propylene/(nonconjugated diene) copolymer], and (iii) 10W60wt% of a vinyl acetate-ethylenic copolymer. The composition is blended using rollers or a Banbury mixer, and a crosslinking agent (e.g. dicumyl peroxide) and, is required, an auxiliary crosslinking agent (e.g. triallyl cyanurate) are added thereto. By continuing the blending to effect partial crosslinking, the titled composition is provided.
USE: Automobile bumper protector, duct hose, gasket, vehicle covering material, flexible container, raincoat, and voltage-withstanding protective clothes.
