Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the treatment capacity by a method wherein, in the treatment of a sewage with a high nitrogen content, a biological treatment is provided in parallel and a treating liquid and an activated sludge are mutually transferred to establish one more system without stopping an existing installation.
CONSTITUTION: In the treatment of a sewage with a high nitrogen content such as an excretion type sewage, a biological denitrification treatment procedure 13 and a biological nitration treatment procedure 16 are provided in parallel to a treatment procedure after an anaerobic or an aerobic treatment procedure. Then, a part of an exhaust liquid from an aeration tank 9 is transferred to a nitration tank 16 and a part of a treated liquid from the nitration tank 16 and a storage tank 4 as well as a returned sludge from a precipitation tank 10 are transferred to a denitrification tank 13 and the exhaust liquid herefrom is transferred to a dilution regulating tank 18. As described above, while an existing installation is operated, a new biological treatment installation is provided and, by the efficient treatment, the denitrification and the BOD removing treatment are carried out.
