Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a low-cost sliding member having superior wear, adhesion and scuffing resistances and capable of being used at high temp. by plasma spraying mixed powder of Fe-Ni alloy powder and Fe-high Cr alloy powder having a specified composition on the surface of a base material to form a sprayed layer. CONSTITUTION:Mixed powder consisting of 5-85wt% Fe-Ni alloy powder and 15-95wt% Fe-high Cr alloy powder is plasma sprayed on the surface of a base material to form a sprayed layer. The Fe-Ni alloy used consists of, by wt., 35- 55% Ni, 0-8% Cr, 4-10% Si, 0-3% B and the balance Fe, and the Fe-high Cr alloy used consists of 55-70wt% Cr, <=3wt% C and the balance Fe. The Vickers hardness of the sprayed layer reaches about 450-1,000.
