Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of pinholes, creases, etc. in or on an electrostatic image or toner image retaining member by using a heat shrinkable cylindrical resin film to form an insulating layer on a cylindrical substrate with a heat shrinkable cylindrical film as an adhesive layer.
CONSTITUTION: A seamless heat shrinkable cylindrical film of syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene or the like is heat shrinked to form adhesive layer 2 on cylindrical substrate 1 or cylindrical substrate 1 with photoconductive layer 4 formed. Layer 2 is then covered with a seamless heat shrinkable cylindrical film of biaxially oriented polyester or the like, and by heat shrinking the film, insulating layer 3 is formed to obtain an image retaining member. Layer 2 is hot meltable and has a heat shrinking temp. lower than that of layer 3, so the silms of both the layers are combined so that layer 2 can well show its bonding strength at the heat shrinking temp. of layer 3. Thus, the occurrence of pinholes, creases, etc. is prevented in manufacture and use, and a superior image is obtd.
