Abstract

PURPOSE: To feed positively and smoothly a band steel to a blade part of a rotary durm or a succeeding step so as to improve the production efficiency of the shear by increasing the rigidity of the band steel to be fed to the rotary drum.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of feeding rollers 20, 21 are provided on the feeding side of the rotary drum of the shear instead of a pair of guide rollers conventionally used. One roller 20 is formed with a convex crown whereas the other roller 21 is formed with a concave crown opposing to the convex crown. The lower roller 21 rotates to transfer the band steel 6 as griped between the both rollers 20, 21. In this instance, the band steel 6 is curved in the width direction by pressing between the convex and concave crowns of the rollers 20, 21. Thus curved steel has an increased rigidity, which enables a positive and smooth feeding of the band steel and hence enhances the production efficiency of the shear.
