Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce kick power at restart by providing a one-way clutch type non- return mechanism in a two-cycle engine starter and actuating the mechanism at an angle where a piston enters the compression stroke.
CONSTITUTION: A motorcycle starter is provided with a start shaft 14, actuating shaft 19, and crank shaft 4 with which a kick pedal not illustrated interlocks, and they are arranged in parallel. The start and actuating shafts 14 and 19 have a speed increase mechanism 18 consisting of gears 16 and 17. A one-way clutch 20 consisting of a ratchet wheel 20a and two ratchet pawls 20b is connected to the crank shaft 4 and prevents the inversion. The engagement between the ratchet wheel and pawls 20a and 20b are positioned so as to be always engaged at the position (h) which is shifted by approximately 40 degrees left from upward, and the position is in the midst of the compression stroke.
