Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance reliability of level sensing by closing the tip of a projective pipe, providing an opening at the low part of this projective pipe and thereby preventing water from intruding into the coupling tube.
CONSTITUTION: An opening provided in a projective pipe 11 is covered by a plate 14, and another opening 16 is provided at the downstream side of this projective pipe 11. The area of this opening 16 shall be equal to or more than the inner area of the projective pipe 11. Accordingly, even if the projective pipe 11 is not so tall and the stream is raised at the wall, the water level goes up only at the projective pipe 11 and, further, the raised stream does not block the opening 16. Thus, reliability on sensing the level of water in a reversible pump-turbine, which has been provided with more and more high head and high speed, can be enhanced.
