Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled apparatus to high efficiently operate the thickening process and to promote the settling of the sandy grain, by placing the truncated hollow conical main body comprising the sandy mud thickening section and the sandy mud storing section on the frame, by boring many holes in the circumferential wall of the storing section, and by fixing the filter on outside of the circumferential wall with the retainer provided with many holes.
CONSTITUTION: The sandy mud stream 17 being sent from the sand pump 14 is discharged from the feed pipe 13 and is separated into water and the sandy grain 15 in the thickening section 7a. A part of this water overflows from the top edge of the thickening section 7a, and the rest of water flows down together with the sandy grain 15. The sandy grain 15 accumulates in the sandy mud storing section 7b, and the water is discharged from the holes 10 bored in the filter retainer 9 after passing the circumferential wall 7b1 and the filter 12. This water discharge rate is controlled to slow down the upward velocity of water; hereby, the thickening action is strengthened and the settling action of the sandy grain is promoted. The sandy mud layer 16 piled up in the sorting section 7b is discharged by opening the gate 3 of the discharge port 2 installed on the frame 1.
