Abstract

1517292 Mounting vehicle lamps LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 1 Sept 1975 [21 Sept 1974] 41218/74 Heading F4R A headlamp assembly comprises a filament and reflector housing 10, a support member 11 adapted to be mounted on the vehicle, and means adjustably mounting the housing on the member for tilting movement relative thereto the means including an adjusting screw engaging the member, a cam element 19 mounted on the screw and slidable transversely relative thereto, and a cam follower 27 connected to the housing and engaging a cam slot 21 in the element so that sliding movement of the element effects tilting of the housing. The screw projects through a transversely extending slot 20 in the cam element, the slot being divided by ridges 23 into three spaced portions 22 with which the screw can be selectively engaged by snapping it over the ridges. The screw also projects through the cam follower 27. The cam element is made from hard nylon with the slots 20 and 21 intersecting one another, the screw being used for initial setting of the headlamp beam and the cam being used to adjust the beam to accommodate for changes in the vehicle loading.
