Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a metal thin-film type magnetic recording medium, by providing the ground layer made of the Al containing the Cr or Si in a specified amount between the plastic base and the magnetic layer.
CONSTITUTION: The nonmagnetic thin-film layer (ground layer) 23 composed of the 95W40wt% Al and the 5W60wt% Cr (or Si) is provided on the plastic base 21. Furthermore, the magnetic layer 22 composed of the ferromagnetic metal (Co, Fe, Ni or alloy of these metals) is formed on the layer 23 to be used for the magnetic recording medium.
