Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Compound of formula I (R is a protecting group of H or OH which is easily removable, e.g. trimethylsilyl, dimethyl-t-butyl, etc.).
USE: Intermediate of prostaglandin analogues.
PROCESS: As shown in the reaction scheme, the compound of formula IV is obtained by the oxidation of OH of the compound of formula II followed by the ring opening of the epoxide. The compound obtained is subjected to the alkenylation with an alkenylating agent after protecting OH to give a compound of formula I' (R' is an easily removable protecting group), which is hydrolyzed to afford the compound of formula I wherein R is H.
