Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a humidity-sensitive element whose dependence on temperature is very small and which has excellent response and sensitivity characterisitcs by a method wherein TiO2 as a main constituent and Nb2O5 and PdO of specified quantity are contained in the element.
CONSTITUTION: The powder of Nb2O5 of 0.5W15wt% is mixed in the powder of TiO2 and dried an later is sintered. After the sintered substance being pulverized, PdCl2 is added so as for it to account for 0.01W10wt% as PdO further 3% of vinyl acetate is added thereto as a binder, and the mixture is dried. Next, the dried substance is sectioned into 100 meshes and molded, and after that, it is sintered for about one hour in the air and under the temperature of 1,000W1,200°C, whereby the sintered substance 1 for the humidity-sensitive element is prepared. This sintered substance 1 is coated with electroconductive paste 2 and 3 whose main constituent is Ag and then is sintered together with a Pt wire at the temperature of 700°C to form an electrode. The humidity-sensitive element thus obtained is improved in its characteristics of temperature, response and sensitivity with Nb2O5 and PdO added together.
