Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the work efficiency of a belt sander by preventing generation of heat or curling at an abrasive belt edge part by reciprocating the abrasive belt on a parallel surface which makes a right angle with its running direction on the front face of a surface plate. CONSTITUTION:An idle pulley table 7 is fitted on a table supporting arm 6 which is mounted on a front face of a stand so that it can be fixed at an appropriate position. A driving motor 12 to rotate a driving roll 11 is fitted on a stand 2, and a surface plate 13 is fitted on its side in a longitudinal direction. A passive roll 14 which is provided holding the surface plate 13 is rotatably mounted on a center shaft 16, and a supporting rod 17 of a U-shaped bearing frame 15 runs an abrasive belt under a constant tension being pressed by a spring 19. Therefore, the abrasive belt would not be twisted, and generation of heat or curling at the abrasive belt edge part can be prevented.
