Abstract

PURPOSE: To extend the life of a holder for honing abrasive stone by subjecting the holder to an electrodeposition in such a state that diamond abrasive grains are buried in a chromium plating layer at a guide part of the holder.
CONSTITUTION: Guide parts 4 are provided on a peripheral face of a main body 1 of holder for honing abrasive stone at points opposite to side faces 1a. Diamond abrasive grains 5 are buried in a chromium plating layer 7 at the guide parts 4. In this state the holder is subjected to an electrodeposition. Although parts of diamond abrasive grains 5 are exposed and function as guides as the chromium plating layer 7 is worn out by the friction between the holder and a work during honing operation, the diamond abrasive grains 5 wouldn't cut and damage the work because they are exposed only at their tops.
