Abstract

PURPOSE: To conserve the power consumption substantially by a method wherein a plurality of heating units are arranged to divide the main body of comparatively broad area into several blocks and the seating of a user thereon is detected to heat the heating unit in the part whereon the user is seated.
CONSTITUTION: The inside of the main body 1 of a heater such as a carpet-type heater of comparatively broad area is divided into plural blocks (four in the figure) and the having units 2aW2d are arranged in the blocks AWD respectively in a zigzag manner. The device is constituted as follows: when the user is seated, for instance, on the block A, an elastic member 9 is compressed by his weight through the intermediary of an outer cover 6, an upper-layer member 7 and an upper-surface electrode 8, while the upper-surface eldctrode 8 of a switching means 19a presses an electroconductive member 11 through a hole 10 and is laid on the top of a lower- surface electrode (not shown in the figure), whereby the output is delivered from the switching means 19a. By this a transistor 22a and then the contact 23a of a relay are turned ON and the electrification of the heating unit 2a is started. The thermal control is conducted based on the output of a heat-sensitive resistor 3a.
