Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to control a liquid pressure at an abnormal time when a failure is caused in one system by a method wherein a flow path is closed when a relative aparting distance between a balance piston and a fail safe piston exceeds a predetermined value, in a captioned device for a vehicle brake system.
CONSTITUTION: A balance piston 3 divides an internal part of a chamber into two systems A, B which are sealed against a liquid pressure from each other and balances the liquid pressure in respective output liquid chambers a2, b2 of the two systems A, B. When a failure is caused in the B system, the liquid pressure acts on a right side only of the B system direction of the balance piston 3, therefore, the balance piston 3 is fixed and a liquid pressure increasing characteristic substantially same as that of a normal time is caused in the A system. When a failure is caused in the A system, the liquid pressure acts on a left side of the A system direction of the balance piston 3, which is just contrary to the above-described operation, therefore, the balance piston 3 is moved to the left through a control piston 5 against a resilient force of a control spring 8, and when the balance piston 3 is apart from a fail safe piston 13 by a predetermined amount, a ball valve 18 is abutted against a valve seat 16 to shut off a communication between input and output liquid chambers b1, b2 in the B system.
