Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A cyclohexanol derivative formula I (R is H or 1W5C aliphatic acyl).
USE: Perfumery and an intermediate for tiaspiran useful as a perfumery.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared by reacting α-dihydroionol or its lower fatty acid ester with singlet oxygen (generated by irradiating oxygen gas with visible light in the presence of a photosensitizer), and reducing the resulting hydroperoxide derivative. The compound of formula II (an intermediate for dihydrodulan useful as a perfumery) is prepared together with the compound of formula I by the above reaction in short steps, in high yield.
