Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an ornamental material having a wood grain pattern extremely similar to natural one by a method wherein a first varnish in lustrous state is coated on the whole surface or the vernal subgrain portions of an ornamental material substrate having a wood grain pattern printed thereon, and then a second varnish in lustrous state is coated in a pattern of spots or lines on the vernal subgrain portions.
CONSTITUTION: A wood grain pattern 2 comprising vernal subgrain portions 3 and autumnal subgrain portions 4 is printed on an ornamental material substrate 17 such as paper and synthetic resin film pre-printed with a ground color 5, and a first varnish 6 in lustrous state consisting of a natural or synthetic resin such as acrylic resin or chlorinated rubber is coated on the whole surface or on only the vernal subgrain portions 3 of the pattern 2. A second varnish 7 in lustrous state but not so lustrous as the first one 6 is coated in the pattern of tiny spots or lines of about 2mm in width on the vernal subgrain portions 3, over the area of 50W90% of the portion 3. Then the third vannish 8 in more lustrous state than the varnish 6 is coated on the antumnal subgrain portion 4 at thickness of 10μ or more.
