Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer which excels in the durability with a small surface electric resistance by adding the perfluoroalkylbetaine into the magnetic layer.
CONSTITUTION: The perfluoroalkyl betaine is added into the magnetic layer in a range 0.1W10wt% based on the magnetic powder. In this case, the perfluoroalkyl betaine is dissolved into the proper solvent of the isopropyl alcohol or the like, and the solution thus obtained is coated or sprayed to the magnetic layer which is formed previously. Otherwise the magnetic layer is soaked into the solution mentioned above, or the perfluoroalkyl betaine is kneaded with the magnetic powder and the binder together to form the magnetic layer.
