Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a titled filter body of high strength which is harmless in food sanitation by thermoworking the filter paper comprising fibrillated polyethylene fibers and one or more of cellylosic natural fibers or synthetic fibers under no pressure then pleating the same.
CONSTITUTION: 20W50Pts. fibrillated polyethylene fibers and 50W80pts. either one or both of cellulosic natural fibers or synthetic fibers are mixed and sheeted to produce filter paper of 50W500g/m2wt. and 0.2W3.0mm thickness. If this filter paper is thermoworked to 120W170°C under no pressure, the fibers are thermally bound by the thermal adhesiveness of the polyethylene fibers per se and this results in increased strength of filter paper. Thence, it is molded by pleating to a chrysanthemum flower shape, whereby the filter body is produced. This filter body is substantially extremely slight in photosensitive action and its filter characteristic is excellent. In addition, it is not subjected to secondary resin working for the purpose of reinforcing the filter paper strength, so it is harmful in food sanitation.
