Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the internal resistance and prevent the short-circuit in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery a negative active material of which is metal lithium by using specific glass fiber nonwoven fabric with synthetic resin coating as a separator. CONSTITUTION:A nonwoven fabric of coated glass fiber in which glass fibers of 0.2-1mum in diameter are coated with polyethylene or polypropyrene is used as a separator 7 for a nonaqueous electrolyte battery a negative active material of which is a metal lithium disc 6, and this separator is placed between positive compound 2 and negative compound 6. Thus the increase of the internal resistance caused by reduction of the electrolyte in the separator due to the swelling of the positive compound 2 during discharging, and the short-circuit due to the damage of the separator are prevented.
