Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a low friction covered layer with superior wear and seizing resistances on the sliding surface of a sliding member such as a piston ring or a cylinder liner by plasma spraying a mixture of Al-Pb alloy powder and Fe-Cr alloy powder in a specified ratio upon the sliding surface. CONSTITUTION:5-50wt% Al-Pb alloy powder contg. 5-40% Pb and 95-50wt% Fe-high Cr alloy powder contg. 55-70% Cr and 3-9% are mixed and plasma sprayed upon the sliding surface of a sliding member such as a piston ring or a cylinder liner to form a sliding surface with superior wear and scuffing resistances at a low cost. Accordingly, the sprayed layer itself and its opposite sliding member undergo little wear.
